The Sevenoaks Science Week

The Duke meets iDEA Award Teams.The Duke of York opened The Sevenoaks School Science Week at Sevenoaks School, Kent on 2nd March, 2015.

The Sevenoaks School Science Week was founded in 2009 and is attended by more than 4,000 students from local schools to develop knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). This year’s event explored the theme of Digital Skills.

HRH watched a number of demonstrations including Titan the Robot – a costume created by Cyberstein Robots Ltd. in 2004. The Duke also met with representatives from Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and the Trauma Team from the Centre for Trauma Science, Barts and London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

HRH had the opportunity to speak to two teams from Sevenoaks School who are participating in the iDEA Award Competition 2014/15.

Speaking at the event, HRH said:

“Science, Technology and Engineering are subjects essential for economic prosperity.”
