In March 2014 The Duke opened the new East London building for City Gateway, a charity dedicated to bringing hope to the local communities of Tower Hamlets that haven’t benefited from the area’s wider economic development.
HRH became patron of city Gateway in 2013 and the work undertaken by this charity is closely aligned with The Duke’s work to support organisations who offer education and skills to young people. City Gateway look to develop disadvantaged individuals though the running of programmes which engage, train and provide them with the skills and opportunities they need to enter work or further education. They have been a key partner in the successful Ladder for London initiative which has so far created 1,346 new apprenticeship roles in the capital.
