PRINCE ENCOURAGES NZ FIRMS TO LOOK TO UK FOR EXPANSION
The Duke of York spent much of today encouraging New Zealand businesses to look to Britain as a place to expand.
Prince Andrew, who has been visiting New Zealand for six days, was talking to the Opportunity UK Trade and Investment Summit in Auckland in his role as a British trade and investment representative.
He spoke to the summit at Sky City this morning before meeting with participants, and was back at Sky City for the summit’s gala charity dinner this evening.
Prince Andrew said New Zealand firms looking to expand globally should consider Britain as a first point of expansion given historical links and cultural similarities between the two countries.
The prince also attended the International Down’s Syndrome Day function at Government House in Auckland today before taking in some boat-related activities. He inspected a boat building operation in suburban Glendene before taking a powerboat ride from Te Atatu, west Auckland, to Viaduct Harbour in the city centre.
Prince Andrew leaves New Zealand tomorrow afternoon.
