The International Year of Light and Light Based Technologies 2015

The Duke views holographic glasses designed by Colour Holographic.On 28th January, 2015 The Duke of York hosted a reception for the International Year of Light and Light Based Technologies (IYL) 2015.

The IYL is a global initiative from the United Nations which celebrates how optical technologies provide solutions to challenges in energy, education, agriculture, communications and health. Programmes and events across the world will mark the event and raise awareness of the importance of light and optical technology.

The event at St. James’s Palace showcased the best in established light technology in the United Kingdom. The exhibitors were:

Reflecting on the importance of light technology and innovation, HRH said “The International Year of Light is about how we have used light over the centuries; it is how we are applying light, photonics and various other aspects in order to make the world a better place, not only for ourselves, but for future generations.”
