The Duke of York, Patron of the Peter Jones Foundation, presented The National Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy annual graduation ceremony.
Peter Jones Enterprise Academies – founded by entrepreneur Peter Jones CBE – are a nationwide network of colleges and providers supported by over 100 leading businesses in the UK. They are seeking to transform attitudes to entrepreneurship and enterprise education.
During the annual graduation ceremony at Freemasons’ Hall, Covent Garden on Tuesday 9th July, 2013, The Duke presented Harry Day from Solihull College with the National Entrepreneur of the Year 2013 Award. Harry’s business idea – Harry Day Tailoring – offers an alternative for a business suit that aims to combine a high-fashion fit, with a high street price.
HRH also presented the following Awards to the deserving winners before meeting the assembled guests of students, parents and business supporters:
Peter Jones Enterprise Academy Tutor of the Year 2013: Daniel Britton, Bournemouth and Poole College
Peter Jones Enterprise Academy Inspirational Student of the Year Award 2013: Raynald Andrew Kinyanjui, City College Coventry
Peter Jones Enterprise Academy Business Manager of the Year 2013: Shazia Afzal, Oldham College
Peter Jones Enterprise Academy Personal Professional Development Award 2013: Team AIR (Anything In Reach), Warrington Collegiate
Peter Jones Enterprise Academy Level 2 Student of the Year: Sean O’Flaherty, North Hertfordshire College
Peter Jones Enterprise Academy Level 3 Student of the Year: Emma Whitley from New College Nottingham
The academies also offer BTECs and Apprenticeships in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship – the first qualifications of their kind for 16-19 year olds in the UK. The course structure is business-led and aims to prepare students for an entrepreneurial career, whether they plan to set up their own business or help an established business to grow.
