Information for members of the media seeking to cover Royal stories
The Press Office at Buckingham Palace is responsible for making arrangements for members of the media to cover Royal visits, events and news stories.
Every effort is made to accommodate members of the media so that they can provide accurate, timely and informative coverage to their audiences. However, arrangements for media access are affected by a number of considerations. These include:
the enjoyment and safety of guests and members of the public present at public and official Royal engagements;
the safety and security of members of the Royal Family and other individuals present at a particular location;
the right to privacy and the personal wellbeing of individual members of the Royal Family.
These guidelines exist to help members of the media in their work, whilst meeting the above considerations. Members of the media seeking to cover Royal events or stories should make themselves familiar with the guidance provided in this section.
Topics covered include guidance on covering Royal visits in the UK and overseas, information about the Royal Rota system, policy on interviews and filming, sources of archive material, and guidance for foreign media interested in the British monarchy.
