Sources of archive photography and footage relating to the Royal Family and residences
There is a wide range of photographic and video footage relating to the British Monarchy and the Royal Family, past and present.
The following provides a guide to useful sources of existing material. It should be noted that, in the case of some archive material (such as the documentaries ‘Royal Family’ or ‘Elizabeth R’), re-broadcasting extracts depends on the approval of Buckingham Palace Press Office, which will decide each case on its individual merits in consultation with the copyright holder.
Permission for extracts from The Queen’s previous Christmas Messages is rarely given.
Please note that we are currently unable to supply images of members of the Royal Family for commercial reprographic purposes.
