ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW ROYAL AIR FORCE HONORARY APPOINTMENTS

THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS ISSUED BY THE PRESS SECRETARY TO THE QUEEN

The Queen has been pleased to approve new Royal Air Force honorary appointments in recognition of the strong links between the Royal Air Force and the Royal Family:

Prince William
Honorary Air Commandant Royal Air Force Coningsby.

Prince Harry
Honorary Air Commandant Royal Air Force Honington.

The Earl of Wessex
Honorary Air Commodore Royal Air Force Waddington.

The Duchess of Cornwall
Honorary Air Commodore Royal Air Force Halton.

The Duchess of Cornwall
Honorary Air Commodore Royal Air Force Leeming.

The Countess of Wessex
Honorary Air Commodore Royal Air Force Wittering.

Note to Editors:

The appointments of Prince William and Prince Harry as Honorary Air Commandants will confer no rank, in recognition of  the existing ranks of Princes William and Harry as serving military officers.  The role and activities of Honorary Air Commandants and Honorary Air Commodores are the same.
