Backing Youth Reception

In the summer of 2013, Principles in Finance were invited to the Backing Youth Reception held in Buckingham Palace by HRH The Duke of York. Simon Haynes, Managing Director at Principles in Finance recalls the event.

This was an amazing event which presented us with the opportunity to connect with leading business figures within the UK. As the founder of a small charity I was honoured to be invited to such an esteemed evening attended by CEOs, Chairmen and senior members of many reputable companies. The Duke opened the evening with a very direct speech including his hopes of partnerships being developed from the occasion, which was most encouraging as this was my aspiration. To my delight I struck up a conversation with the Vice Chairman of Barclays Bank who was impressed with the work we do. Subsequently he invited me to discuss potential opportunities of working with Barclays which will now see us jointly delivering financial education and employability training to young offenders / ex-offenders. Barclays has offered to host training within their Canary Wharf Head Quarters and provide mentors as a way of supporting our organisation. Over 100 young people stand to benefit from this partnership. This is a fantastic outcome, more than we could have hoped for, and one that would not have been achieved without the assistance of the Reception and HRH The Duke of York.
