University of Huddersfield wins "Best University Workplace Award"

The Duke became Patron of The University of Huddersfield in June 2013. In the same year the University was awarded two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, and was named the Times Higher Education University of the Year.

Huddersfield has now added to this list of accolades by taking first place in the Times Higher Education Best University Workplace Survey. The survey covered the following categories:

1. “I would recommend working at my university”
2. “The leadership of my university is performing well”
3. “My university offers a fair deal to its employees in terms of working conditions and benefits”
4. “My work responsibilities allow for a healthy work-life balance”

Huddersfield successfully came top of all four, with a score of over 90% in the first three categories and 75% in the fourth category.

This was the first ever national survey across 150 Universities and Higher Education Institutions to find the best University to work at in the UK.

Vice-chancellor, Professor Bob Cryan of The University of Huddersfield said:

“It has made me very proud indeed. Our staff are our biggest asset and hugely important to the success of the University. Time and time again I have seen them go the extra mile for their students, which is what it’s all about. So it’s pleasing to know that they are happy in their work and in the direction that the University is heading.”
