Princess Eugenie visited Tara the Elephant at The Duke of York Square on 26th June, 2015 in support of the Elephant Family charity.
Elephant Family campaigns to save the Asian Elephant, tigers, orangutans, and other animals who share their habitat from extinction. The organisation currently funds 20 projects across Asia.
Tara the Elephant was rescued by Mark Shand, Founder of Elephant Family. A ten foot model of Tara has been at The Duke of York Square for the month of June, 2015.
HRH read an extract of Mark Shand’s book “Travels to my Elephant” to 20 children from a local school. Princess Eugenie also asked the children to draw a picture of an elephant.
Princess Eugenie said “For many years now I have been a huge supporter of Mark Shand and all his work with Elephant Family. His legacy lives on with all the wonderful work the charity does for saving these beautiful creatures. I have been so lucky to see elephants in their natural habitat and it’s a very special memory.”
