Kent and Sussex Awayday

The Duke of York visited Kent and Sussex on 1st March, 2016 for a programme focussed on Science, Technology and Engineering and Education.

His Royal Highness, Patron of The Baker Dearing Educational Trust, opened Medway UTC. Medway UTC is a University Technical College focused on construction, engineering and design and provides education in and around the Medway area.

The Duke met with students working in the engineering and construction workshops and the computer and science department. His Royal Highness unveiled a plaque to open the college and said “I believe the UTC system creates opportunities for young people.”

The Duke of York then moved on to City Academy Whitehawk to meet teachers and students at the school. City Academy Whitehawk is a primary academy school sponsored by City College Brighton and Hove.

During the visit, His Royal Highness met with students engaged with literacy and coding projects and said “It is an enormous pleasure to see what a fantastic job is being done here by children, teachers and parents.”
