The Duke of York opened the New Traditional Chinese Gate in London’s Chinatown on 25th July, 2016.
The New Traditional Chinese Gate was built following the Chinese State Visit in 2015. The gate aims to represent the growing links between China and the United Kingdom.
His Royal Highness said “A Chinese Gate is a sign of welcome – it is a huge pleasure to be here today.”
His Excellency Mr. Liu Xiaoming, Chinese Ambassador, said “(The Chinese Gate) is a symbol of friendship and collaboration between two nations.”
The Duke unveiled a commemorative plaque and watched a traditional lion dance before moving onto a Reception at The Imperial China Restaurant.
