The Duke of York attended a Reception to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Jutland onboard HMS Duncan on 26th May, 2016.
31st May, 2016 marked the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Jutland which was the largest Naval Battle of WW1.
His Royal Highness said “I hope the Nation appreciates what the Navy did in 1916 and what she does today, including in this ship HMS Duncan.”
The Duke placed his message in The Royal British Legion’s Battle of Jutland Capsule. HRH’s message read “To the memory of those who served at the Battle of Jutland 1916 with whom my Grandfather, the last Duke of York, served.”
