HRH The Duke of York, KG visits Abu Dhabi – Day 2

day 3 Abu Dhabi

Today, The Duke of York visited the British Embassy in Abu Dhabi to attend the BAE Mubadala Internship Reception where he was received by H.E. Mr Patrick Moody, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.

BAE Systems is an international defence, aerospace and security company which employs 83,200 people globally and is now in its fourth of a five year collaboration with Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala investment company. The collaboration has seen BAE Systems run an intensive 18-week internship scheme for a small number of Emirati graduates at their Military Air and Information business in the North West of England.

Over the 18-week course, the students are immersed in real life scenarios alighted to their engineering and manufacturing disciplines. The programme seeks to support young Emirati engineers to equip them with the necessary experience and skills needed to support the UAE’s future ambitions in building an economy based on knowledge, while also inspiring future generations in pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) related studies and fields.

During his visit, HRH met with four Internship Graduates and discussed the diversity of the projects and breadth of learning on offer at the Mubadala Internship Programme, as well as the hands-on experience and structured mentoring they all received and their career aspirations.
