The Duke then attended a lunch at the Bank of China.

Chinese Academy of Sciences, Honorary Doctorate Ceremony
In the afternoon, The Duke visited the UCAS Yuquanlu Campus where he delivered a lecture and received an Honorary Doctorate from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. HRH has developed a strong relationship with the Chinese Academy of Sciences having first met their President at his (President Bai’s) Fellowship ceremony at the Royal Society in October 2014. At that time The Duke and President Bai agreed to work closely to build stronger links between the UK and China in Science, and as part of this work they launched a joint Scholarship Programme at Buckingham Palace in February 2017.

After receiving his Honorary Doctorate, The Duke said: “The UK’s world-leading research centres continue to drive the development of the field. In recent years the UK’s machine learning community has also demonstrated its strength in supporting start-up businesses – the translation of research into commercial activities. The UK is a natural partner for China because you also have ambitious policies in this area.”

Chinese Academy of Sciences Dinner
That evening, President Bai hosted a dinner for The Duke the Chinese Academy of Sciences Headquarters.
