The Duke of York visited the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and saw the excellent work they undertake to support injured animals and endangered species. HRH was able see Koalas being treated and the important work of the Sanctuary to support Echidnas and Tasmanian Devils. To find out more about the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary see here.
Later The Duke visited the Carrara Sports and Leisure Complex to receive a briefing on plans for The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. HRH was also able to meet Volunteers involved in supporting the Games. To find out more about the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games see here.
The Duke then visited the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct where he was able to see the excellent resources being developed in the Gold Coast as a result of the Games Initiative. At the Institute of Glycomics, HRH met researchers involved in developing a new vaccine for malaria.
Later that evening The Duke attended a reception for the Queensland Community and State Dinner at Government House.
