The Duke of York will become Patron of the Morayvia Aerospace Centre in Kinloss, Scotland. Morayvia is a community led initiative that brings together a number of disciplines from aerospace and astronomy to technology and arts-related activities into a single visitor centre.
The organisation was formed in May 2011 to preserve the last remaining Nimrod at RAF Kinloss. The Centre has now developed into Morayvia’s Science and Technology Experience Project (STEP). The Centre’s growing collection of exhibits include a complete Sea King SAR Helicopter and mobile planetarium.
His Royal Highness has visited the Centre on two previous occasions. On his most recent in 2018, he presented the Centre with The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, which is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK.
