Shazam

The Duke of York visited Shazam, London on 24th June, 2015.

Shazam was founded in 1999 and is a mobile app that uses advanced audio recognition to identify music, television and film. Once the audio is detected, a digital fingerprint is created and matched against Shazam’s database. In the case of music, users are given information on the track and artist, options to purchase the music or concert tickets, and access to additional media such as lyrics, videos and related tracks.

HRH has known Andrew Fisher, Executive Chairman of Shazam, for many years and they discussed the history of the company and future activities. The Duke also had the opportunity to meet teams from International Ad Sales, Human Resources, Product, Technology, Finance and Legal.

Commenting on Shazam’s success The Duke said “Congratulations on all you have achieved. Your future sounds exciting, and I wish you luck in your endeavours”

“We must focus on developing the skills of young people to meet demand from companies like Shazam”
