UK Atomic Energy Authority, Visit

The Duke of York visited the UK Atomic Energy Authority at Culham Science Centre on 21st March 2018.

During the visit, HRH unveiled a foundation stone for the new Oxford Apprenticeships Services Centre.

The Duke received an introduction to fusion research and a tour of the JET experiment. JET holds the world record for fusion performance and is a vital stepping stone in preparation for the international ITER project – presently under construction in France – which will test the viability of the first fusion power stations. HRH met Remote Handling team members who demonstrated the interactive equipment and also met European JET staff, UK senior staff, apprentices, representatives from the Oxfordshire University Technical College and UK/European scientists and engineers.
