CBBC Appsolute Genius

The CBBC APPsolute Genius Competition Judges at Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of York chaired the panel of judges for CBBC Appsolute Genius at Buckingham Palace on 7th November, 2014. The other judges were Minecraft Vlogger, Stampy Cat; Co- Founder of Angry Birds, Peter Vesterbacka; Aardman Creative Director, Jake Manion; CEO of MakieLab, Alice Taylor; President of Mind Candy, Divinia Knowles and Controller of CBBC, Cheryl Taylor.

The competition was open to 6-12 year olds and formed part of the BBC’s “Make it Digital” Initiative to inspire a new generation of young people to become involved with coding, programming, and digital technology. The Appsolute Genius Competition ran alongside Children’s Television presenters, Dick and Dom’s Series.

On 19th November, 2014 CBBC announced the Competition Winner as 12 year old Alex from Hampshire for his game “Escargot Escape Artistes”. The game really impressed the panel. Judge and Controller of CBBC, Cheryl Taylor commented, “All of us were flabbergasted with the ingenuity of the ideas and in particular, the detail and creativity of Alex’s Winning entry.”

Alex will work with Aardman Animations and CBBC to develop his game into an App. Escargot Escape Artistes will be available to download in March, 2015.
