The Duke of York visited Abu Dhabi to host [email protected] UAE 3.0, where 12 Entrepreneurs had the opportunity to Pitch their businesses to an influential Audience. The winners of the Event, which took place on 9 October, will be invited to Pitch at [email protected] GCC 2.0 in November.
The Entrepreneurs that took part were selected from two [email protected] On Tour Events held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. At Khalifa University’s Innovation Centre, an innovative incubator that supports high-tech/high impact start-ups across the UAE, the 12 Entrepreneurs came together for a two day Boot Camp.
The Boot Camp included speeches from industry experts, business support and mentorship, and the opportunity to practise the Entrepreneurs 3 minute business Pitches. His Royal Highness had the chance to meet the Entrepreneurs and give them advice on their Pitches ahead of the [email protected] UAE 3.0 Main Event.
The UAE is committed in creating the optimal environment for entrepreneurs, enabling them to develop, scale and build transformational businesses. The Duke of York, who actively seeks to support and amplify the work being done to support early-stage entrepreneurship, visited organisations in Abu Dhabi who are working to promote innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development aims to encourage innovation and set up SMEs in the UAE that will contribute to the social and economic development of the country. His Royal Highness visited the Fund’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi to learn more about their range of initiatives, which include business counselling, financial support and advice and technical support and guidance.
The Duke was shown the work of Sougha, which was launched by the Fund in 2009. Aiming to provide a local and global market for Emirati artisans and revitalise the art of weaving across the UAE, artisans from Sougha were invited to produce the souvenir Goody Bags for [email protected] UAE 3.0.
At [email protected] UAE 3.0, His Royal Highness was joined by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, where they had the opportunity to meet entrepreneurs who have been supported by the Khalifa Fund and learn more about their businesses.
