The Duke of York opened the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) Air Response Unit on 25th March, 2015. HRH has been Royal Patron of the YAA since 2012.
The Charity was set up in 2000 and expanded in 2007 with the addition of a second Air Ambulance. Since then, the YAA has developed into a sophisticated emergency service that provides state-of-the-art emergency medical care throughout Yorkshire.
The Duke visited to open the new Air Support Unit at Nostell Priory near Wakefield. The site replaces a former facility at Leeds Bradford International Airport and the move will enhance the service’s efficiency by improving flying times and coverage of the region.
HRH opened the Nostell Air Support Unit, and said “Thank you for the service you give come rain or shine because it means so much to the people of Yorkshire.”
