The Duke of York visits WaveOptics

The Duke of York has visited WaveOptics in Oxfordshire to open their new state-of-the-art head office, which is situated in the leading business and science park, Milton Park.

WaveOptics is the leading designer and manufacturer of diffractive waveguides for use in Augmented Reality (AR) wearables. Its technology is designed to be used for immersive AR experiences in industrial, enterprise and consumer markets around the world.

His Royal Highness first met WaveOptics when the business took part in [email protected] 6.0 in 2016. Since then, the company has grown from just under 15 employees to more than 70 employees around the world.

During the visit, The Duke was given a demo of WaveOptics’ smart glasses, which enable users to see computer-generated images overlaid on top of the real world. There are two key elements that allow these images to be seen – a light source such as a minute projector and a means of transferring the image from the projector into the user’s eyes.
